Frequently Asked Questions

Q- Will my child be okay to participate if he/she is new to the sport(s)? +

Yes, the design of the program works great with all ages and skill levels.

Q- Will my child play in each game? +

Yes, every child plays every game.

Q- Where are the practices and games? +

Practices and games are both held at the same location, and location details can be found on your flyer, or by clicking the “Program Details” button on the registration page. Practice and game locations will also be emailed to you 3-5 days before opening day.

Q- Where can I find the practice and game schedule? +

Practices and games are both held on Saturdays between 9a-12p. Your child’s team schedule will be emailed to you 3-5 days before opening day.

Q- Who is my child’s coach? +

In the SSA Sports Leagues, all coaches are background approved parent volunteers! If you’re interested in becoming a coach and leading your team, please email us at signup@ssaprogram.com and a representative will get back to you shortly.

Q- Does my child need to bring any equipment? +

SSA does provide the equipment, and it is also okay for your child to bring their own soccerball, basketball, volleyball, etc. If your child will be bringing their own equipment, please write his or her name on the equipment. Note: Tball and baseball leagues do require children to bring their own glove.

Q- What should my child wear? +

Flag Football: SSA Leagues provide each player with an official SSA jersey that your child gets to keep. Players may wear shorts or sweats of any type, as long as they do not have pockets or belt loops. Children need to dress appropriate for outside weather. As for footwear, rubber cleats or sneakers are appropriate. Lastly, each player must use a mouth guard during practice and games.

Tball: SSA Leagues provide each player with an official SSA jersey and baseball cap that your child gets to keep. Players may wear baseball pants, shorts or sweats of any type, as long as they do not have pockets or belt loops. Children need to dress appropriate for outside weather. As for footwear, rubber cleats or sneakers are appropriate. Lastly, each player must bring their own baseball glove and a protective cup is recommended.

Volleyball: SSA Leagues provide each player with an official SSA jersey that your child gets to keep. Players may wear shorts or sweats of any type, as long as they do not have pockets or belt loops. Volleyball games are held indoors and outdoors depending on the season and location. Knee pads are recommended for indoor play. As for footwear, sneakers are appropriate and must be worn during indoor practice and games. Sand volleyball games are played barefoot.

Basketball: SSA Leagues provide each player with an official SSA jersey that your child gets to keep. Players may wear shorts or sweats of any type, as long as they do not have pockets or belt loops. As for footwear, sneakers are appropriate and must be worn during practice and games. Basketball games are held indoors.

Cheerleading: SSA Leagues provide each cheerleader with an official SSA cheer uniform and pompom set that your child gets to keep. If the sport is being held outside, children need to dress appropriate for outside weather. As for footwear, sneakers are appropriate and must be worn during practice and games.

Soccer: SSA Leagues provide each player with an official SSA jersey that your child gets to keep. Players may wear shorts or sweats of any type as long as they do not have pockets or belt loops. Children need to dress appropriate for outside weather. As for footwear, rubber cleats or sneakers are appropriate. Lastly, each player must wear shin guards covered by soccer socks during practice and games.

Dodgeball: SSA Leagues provide each player with an official SSA jersey that your child gets to keep. Players may wear shorts or sweats of any type, as long as they do not have pockets or belt loops. Dodgeball games are held indoors and outdoors so children need to dress appropriate for weather. As for footwear, sneakers are appropriate and must be worn during practice and games.

Q- How long are practices and games? +

Practices are 30 minutes. Games are 45 minutes.

Q- How are the age groups divided? +

Ages 6-8 are in “A Division.” Ages 9-12 are in “B Division.”

Q- Are the leagues co-ed? +

All leagues are co-ed unless otherwise noted.

Q- Are awards given out at the end of the season? +

Yes, we do give awards to the winning team at the end of the season. In addition,“Most Improved,” “Hardest Worker,” and “League MVP” awards are distributed. At SSA we do not give “Participation” awards, but children not on the winning team do not go home empty handed.

Q- Do I bring refreshments? +

Although parents will take turns bringing refreshments, children should bring water.

Q- When is it my turn to bring refreshments? +

If you have a day you would like to bring refreshments please email us at signup@ssaprogram.com. Otherwise, a representative will reach out to schedule a day.

Flag Football & QB Skills! - This camp utilizes flag football to teach players standard football rules, throwing technique, drop-steps, field vision, formations, and other skills while participating in team competitions and games! Camp time also focuses on leadership, inner-confidence, attitude, speed, power, explosiveness, nutrition, exercise, and hard work. This camp is safe, educational, and FUN!

Young Entrepreneur! - This unique camp introduces children of all skills sets to business and financial basics in an interactive and exciting environment! Your child will learn to identify problems, find solutions, and create products before marketing and selling them through various mediums. Camp time also focuses on money management, taxes, working with people and so much more. Join us and watch your child’s entrepreneurial spirit come to life!

Total Clone Sports & MVP Challenge! - This exciting camp utilizes the "MVP Workout Challenge," Zeus's Obstacle Course," soccer, dodgeball and other development games to cross-train children of all skills levels. Program time focuses on hand-eye coordination, speed and agility, endurance, proper nutrition, proper exercise and overall motor skills to help your child become a complete athlete.
Note: All camps are coed.

Explorer Course & Survival Skills - This exciting course will stimulate your child’s creative instincts and take their imagination across the globe!  They’ll learn methods to overcome extreme weather, challenging terrain, wild animals, and unique scenarios to survive this wild course! Camp time addresses wildlife tracking, plant identification, navigation skills using a compass, basic first aid and safety techniques, and constructing makeshift shelters. All games and activities are safe and age appropriate.
